Cat 'Emily' is sleeping on bags of pigeon food. Dozens of tons have to be fed to pigeons each year in the dens the 'Stadttaubenprojekt' takes care of. Feeding pigeons is an integral part of the method the 'Stadttaubenprojekt' applies to reduce pigeon populations in Frankfurt. The birds would otherwise populate streets and public places in their desperate search for food. Even though the 'Stadttaubenprojekt' is highly succesful at reducing pigeons, the authorities refuse to build more dens and hesitate to increase the amount of public funds to support the work of the 'Stadttaubenprojekt'. The authorities prefer to assign pest control workers who are much more expensive and tend to kill the pigeons they capture.
